In collaboration with Driftaway Coffee and chef Abby Kirn, The Libi Project produced a coffee cupping workshop and roastery demonstration in honor of women’s history month. All of the roasts tasted featured Driftaway’s She Roars bean collection, celebrating women coffee farmers who make up the backbone (70%) of the coffee industry but make 40% less revenue and have systemically lower access to resources like land, credit and information. Attendees learned all about the seed-to-cup process, followed by a coffee tasting of five coffees from the women-owned farms. Starting this year, Driftaway has prioritized buying 50% of the coffees we roast from women farmers. Every coffee you see with the She Roars icon means that the coffee payment went to the women who did the work, like Delphrose Uwimana, Marisela Sánchez, Luz Gladis Martinez, and Yuki Minami.
